What a patient says when they cannot say it.

Speak For Me gets the words out of the bed and into the room.

A bilingual communication aid for intubated, ventilated and post-surgical patients. Works offline. No account, nothing to configure at the bedside.

Four ways to be heard, in the order they fail.

    It speaks

    One tap sends the phrase to the device’s own voice, in English or Arabic, at a speed the caregiver sets. A haptic pulse confirms the tap even when the room is loud.

    If nobody hears it, the screen says it

    The phrase fills the display at the size you see above, for as long as it is being spoken. Audio is for the room. The screen is for the person facing the other way.

    If the phone is silent, it shakes

    An emergency phrase that produces no sound vibrates and turns the screen red. The app states plainly that no alert was sent, rather than letting anyone assume one was.

    If the app itself breaks, four buttons still work

    Call the nurse, I can’t breathe, yes, and no are read from a file compiled into the app. They survive a corrupt database, a failed migration and a crashed screen.

This is not a nurse-call system.

The red buttons speak a phrase out loud through the phone’s own speaker. They do not alert staff, page anyone, or connect to any hospital system. If nobody is in the room, nobody is notified.

Patients stay on the ward’s own call system. Speak For Me is used alongside it, never instead of it — and the app says so on the button itself.

The screen and the speaker can use different languages.

A patient reading Arabic can have the phone speak English for the nurse on shift. Or the reverse. Or both, one after the other.

Speaking both is also a safety net: if one language has no voice installed, the other still speaks — and the phrase is on screen in both either way.

Works with no network, no account, no setup

Everything is on the device: the phrases, the voices, the database. There is nothing to log into and nothing to configure before a patient can use it. A hospital Wi-Fi outage changes nothing.

The screen says it too

A phrase is shown full-screen while it is spoken, large enough to read from across the bay. Audio is for the room; the screen is for the person who did not hear it — a nurse facing away, a noisy bay, a phone on silent.

Bilingual in both directions

The patient reads Arabic while the phone speaks English for the nurse on shift. Or the reverse. Or both, one after the other — which also means that if one language has no voice installed, the other still speaks.

Fails out loud, never silently

When speech does not play, the phrase fills the screen and an emergency vibrates. The app says plainly that no alert was sent rather than leaving anyone to assume one was.

Designed for weak hands and tired eyes.

Every primary control is at least 88dp. Text scales to 160%. Three themes, chosen by a caregiver rather than followed from the operating system.

We are equally clear about the gaps: there is no switch scanning, eye-gaze or dwell selection yet, so the app cannot serve a patient with no reliable touch at all.
